Social websiting
What did you do five years ago for your Internet marketing? - Build a website, send emails through your mailing list, broadcast RSS-feed. That's it. Those were the only possible tools.
Today Internet marketing is greatly enriched by social networks. In fact the Web has changed, changed the form of your presence and activities, but the Internet marketing in essence changed has not. The rule is simple: locate the paths of potential audience and try to catch as much as you can! This is a funny game! Read further to find out how!
First, let's make sure that you have mastered the following:
- Modern, nice, easy-to-use, up-to-date, search engine optimized website. If not, maybe it is the best time to update its interface.
- RSS feed (optionally).
- Accounts of your company/group/organization at all possible social networks, properly decorated and formed.
- Active groups, twits, broadcasts, threads in social networks, open to everyone.
- Active groups in social networks, with limited access to your paid customers only.
- A good idea could be to conduct public groups or conferences around your expertize field. E.g. if you sell pizza, create a group or blog for daily pizza receipt.
- All pages of your website are socially integrated. It means, that they have social buttons "Share", "I like", "Discuss" and so on.
- All you websites and social groups are cross-linked. Website must have links to the groups, and the groups must have the backlink to your website.
As soon as the above list is OK, include the following activities into your weekly schedule:
- Review your website and add some news, thoughts, articles on your subject (i.e. services or products you provide). Your website is still the point of entrance of your potential customers from search engines. And search engines like volumes, as well as visitors. Work daily to increase your site volume and organize its content wisely. It is better to add articles or fundamental materials to your site, rather then short text cuts, sayings, jokes, etc. It is better to post them in social groups.
- Post links to your new website content in social groups. Social networks are the best place for daily jokes, sayings, images, videos or any other fast-food content. It keeps community interest to your group in good tonus. Once a day is enough, twice is the maximum, otherwise the community will stop noticing your posts.
- If you managed mailing lists, you can continue doing that, but send emails less often, e.g. once a month, highlighting only the most important issues. Email is gettig less important nowadays; people use it less and less and it leads to the decrease of personal mail and increase of all kinds of automatic boring emails. Try to be useful, not bothering.
- If you broadcasted RSS, go on, but review the contents of RSS feed - remember to include social links.
Try to keep an eye on the pulse of social networks, always check new opportunities, see what others do and you will be even more successful then you are now. Remember, that your image on the web must look alive. Always keep your ears open to ideas how to make your Internet appearance better. Don't be shy to ask anyone about impression you do.
